Technical guide: How to identify hydraulic seals: types, dimensions and materials

The DSR-U is a double-acting wiper for cylinder rods. The outer lip scrapes off the dust, mud and dirt that the rod brings in from outside, which prevents scoring on the rod and protects the guides and the rod seal. The inner lip works the other way: it leaves on the rod the thin oil film that lubricates it, instead of dragging it out.

It has a shoulder that sits against the face of the housing and protects the entry of the groove. The manufacturer recommends using it with a rod seal that returns the oil inwards, and providing a relief hole between the two so that pressure does not build up in between.

  • Material: SEALPUR 93 polyurethane (93 Shore A)
  • Speed: up to 0.8 m/s
  • Temperature: from -40 °C to +100 °C
  • Fluid: mineral-based hydraulic oils

Sizes are in the list (rod × outside diameter × height). Some are in NBR, which is marked in the size name. In the Aston Seal datasheet this profile is called SAD.
