Technical guide: How to identify hydraulic seals: types, dimensions and materials

The P5 is the simplest wiper in the range: one lip that cleans the rod and keeps dust, mud and dirt out of the cylinder. That way the rod does not get scored and the guides and rod seal last longer.

The outer shoulder sits flush with the housing and reduces the moisture getting into the groove. Inside it has ribs that hold it straight and stop it twisting or sticking in the housing.

  • Material: SEALPUR 93 polyurethane (93 Shore A)
  • Speed: up to 0.8 m/s
  • Temperature: from -40 °C to +100 °C
  • Fluid: mineral-based hydraulic oils

It must not have pressure behind it. Sizes are in the list; the number in brackets is the shoulder size. In the Aston Seal datasheet this profile is called SAG.
