Technical guide: How to identify hydraulic seals: types, dimensions and materials

Guide ring for hydraulic cylinder pistons. It fits on the piston and keeps it centred in the barrel, so that there is no metal-to-metal contact and the seals work without side loads.

Sizes range from 16 to 250 mm bore and read bore × groove diameter × width, in mm (for example 50x44x9.6). The most common widths are 9.6, 12.8 and 19.2 mm.

To choose, measure the inside diameter of the barrel, the groove diameter on the piston and the groove width. The PDF datasheets are in the attachments.
