Technical guide: How to identify hydraulic seals: types, dimensions and materials

Tape for making hydraulic cylinder guide rings to size, instead of using moulded rings. It is cut to the length of the circumference and fitted in the piston or cylinder head groove.

Sizes, as width × thickness (mm): 9.5x2.5, 9.7x2, 9.7x2.5, 14.5x3, 15x2.5, 15x3, 20x2.5, 25x2.5 and 40x2.5.

To choose, measure the groove width and the thickness the tape has to fill: half the difference between the bore (or rod) diameter and the groove diameter. When cutting, leave a small gap between the ends.
