Technical guide: How to identify hydraulic seals: types, dimensions and materials

Guide ring for hydraulic cylinder rods. It fits in the cylinder head and guides the rod, so that there is no metal-to-metal contact and the rod seals work without side loads.

Sizes range from 20 to 162 mm rod diameter and read rod × groove diameter × width, in mm (for example 50x56x9.6). The most common widths are 9.6, 12.8 and 19.2 mm, and there are inch sizes.

To choose, measure the rod diameter, the groove diameter in the head and the groove width.
