Technical guide: How to identify hydraulic seals: types, dimensions and materials

The TTI/L is a rod seal for hydraulic cylinders, made of SEALPUR 93 polyurethane (93 Shore A). The two main lips are not the same: the static-side lip is more flexible and follows pressure changes, while the rod-side lip is shorter and stiffer so it presses firmly against the rod. Behind them a second lip holds a little oil, which is what prevents wear when the rod runs almost dry.

It handles pressure peaks well and has low friction at low pressure. It fits without special tools, as long as the housing has rounded chamfers and no burrs, so the lips are not cut on the way in.

  • Pressure: up to 400 bar
  • Speed: up to 0.5 m/s
  • Temperature: from -40 °C to +100 °C
  • Fluid: mineral-based hydraulic oils
  • Rod surface finish: Ra ≤ 0.3 µm

These are maximum values and should not all be used at the same time. Sizes are in the combination list (rod × outside diameter × height). In the Aston Seal datasheet this profile is called AD.
