Technical guide: How to identify hydraulic seals: types, dimensions and materials

Guide rings for hydraulic cylinder pistons and rods, in several sizes. They keep the piston centred in the barrel and the rod centred in the head, and take the side loads so that the seals do not have to.

Sizes range from 17.9 to 180 mm. They generally read inside diameter × outside diameter × width, in mm, but some options are written in reverse order or have four figures.

To choose, measure the old ring or the groove it sits in (groove diameter, bore or rod diameter and width) and compare with the option list.
