The RS08-01 is a direct-acting, poppet-type counterbalance (load-holding) valve in a screw-in cartridge. It controls the speed of the actuator according to the inlet flow and stops the load from running away when it lowers or retracts. In load-holding applications it can also be used as a hose-break valve.

This is the cartridge only (letter C in the code), without body. For in-line mounting Hydac offers the FH083-SB3 (steel, G3/8) and FH083-AB3 (aluminium, G3/8) bodies. Check the pilot ratio of the circuit: there is also a 4:1 version, RS08-01-C-N-4-500V.
